Woman was questioned by police
A loaded handgun was found in a woman’s carry-on bag at Pittsburgh International Airport on Thursday.
A Transportation Security Administration spokesperson said the woman, who is from Austintown, Ohio, was stopped at a checkpoint and the gun was discovered. It was loaded with six bullets.
The TSA contacted Allegheny County police, which confiscated the gun and questioned the woman.
The woman faces a civil penalty from TSA for bringing the gun to the checkpoint. A typical first offense is $3,900.
This is the 29th handgun stopped at one of the airport’s checkpoints so far this year.
